McCoy Colts beat Brooks Buffalos in Game 1 of high school baseball playoffs

The McCoy JV Colts baseball team triumphed over the Brooks Buffalos on Friday with a dominant victory.

The Colts took an 11-1 win across five innings at McCoy Field, marking the kickoff of the Southern Alberta High School Baseball League Tier 1 playoff tournament.

Kunkel, who was named the player of the game for the Colts, pitched a complete game, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out nine batters.

On the offensive front, Owen Fisher went three for four with two runs batted in and two runs scored, while Dylan Nelson contributed with a hit and two RBIs.

Kunkel himself made an impact with a hit and two runs scored.

Liam Cunningham, Tegin Stienley, and Kylan Mailhiot each added a hit, a run, and an RBI to the scoreboard.

Weather permitting, the JV Colts are set to face the undefeated Vauxhall Vikings in their second round-robin game at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening at McCoy Field.

Tournament action will continue on Saturday at both McCoy Field and Jeffries Field. With this win, McCoy JV’s season record stands at seven wins and seven losses.
