May 8, 2024 | 5:19 PM

A warning has been issued for a creek that runs outside southeast Medicine Hat.

Water levels of Bullshead Creek have risen 1.5 metres after the headwaters of the creek received 110 millimetres of rainwater over a period of 48 hours.

Alberta Environment issued a new high streamflow advisory for the creek on Wednesday afternoon.

Low-lying areas adjacent to the river may be impacted but widespread flooding is not expected at this time, officials said.

Other watercourses in the area, such as Seven Persons Creek and Gros Ventre Creek have already peaked, Environment Alberta reported.

Cypress County reports the intersection of Township Road 94 and Range Road 30 is under water and should be avoided.

The Josephburg trail is closed except for local traffic between township roads 110 and 114 due to overflowing water.
