New bulk petroleum station opens in Dunmore

A new bulk petroleum station has opened in Dunmore.

Officials were on-hand for a grand opening of the UFA Co-operative’s Dunmore Petroleum Agency on Wednesday, revealing an expansive cardlock station featuring UFA and Shell products.

Chief operating officer of Alberta-based UFA Don Smith told CHAT News the new station created about 10 jobs in Dunmore.

Smith said UFA is focused on having a positive local impact.

“That’s who UFA is, is being involved in the community,” Smith told CHAT News.

“That’s why we supported HALO, as an example, with our $1,000 donation today,” he said, referencing the Medicine Hat-based air ambulance service.

“We’re a community-based organization.”

Cypress-Medicine Hat MLA Justin Wright said the station is a positive investment.

“Anytime we have new business growth, especially one that’s going to service our rural and agriculture producers, it’s a huge win,” Wright said.

Wright added the petroleum stop will be a crucial “heart” for transportation logistics in the region.
