Medicine Hat-raised Craig Wilson, who worked at CHAT Television in the late 1980s, scooped up another Writers Guild of America award for TV news writing.

“I grew up in Medicine Hat since I was 10 years old on the southeast hill — it is the foundation of almost everything that is me, that defined me, that made me,” Wilson told CHAT News.

“I was passionate about the community I grew up in, its politics, its people, all of it. It’s really what provided the rocket fuel for me to have this career that I’ve had now.”

Wilson, who works at CBS News in New York as the weekend director, shares the award with his colleague Ambrose Raferty for their coverage of the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel titled “Suprise Attack!”

It was the fifth time being nominated and third time winning.
