Outdoor rinks closing for the season Thursday

Mar 20, 2024 | 2:32 PM

It’s the last day to get out and skate.

Medicine Hat’s outdoor rinks are closing for the season as of Thursday due to the warmer weather, according to a city notice published Wednesday.

The rinks had opened in January, but will now be disassembled in the coming weeks.

The city requested residents exercise caution, as some rinks may retain standing water until they are fully drained and removed.

The 14 rinks are ran by volunteers throughout the winter through the city’s “adopt-a-rink” program.

Application forms to volunteer for the program in 2024-2025 will be available online at medicinehat.ca/skating before the end of August.
