Public elementary, middle and high school students in Medicine Hat will get a longer summer and a later start to the school year this fall.

The start date for the 2024-25 school year was pushed back to after Labour Day after the Medicine Hat Public School Division‘s board gave approval on Tuesday.

Staff, parents and students were surveyed prior to the proposal coming forward to the board, associate superintendent Jason Peters said.
