The following is a submitted story.

The Brooks Bandits have announced the signing of Lawrence Academy forward Owen Leahy for the 2024-25 season.

Leahy, 19, is in his third year at Lawrence Academy in Groton, MA, where he’s put up 48 points (16G, 32A) through 25 games in the New England Prep School League.

“I chose Brooks because of its winning tradition and dedication to the development of their players,” said Leahy.

“The compete-level is off the charts and I look forward to being challenged daily to be the best player that I can be and contribute to the continued success of the Brooks Bandits. I’m excited to see what the future will hold as a Bandit.”

The Providence, RI, left-shot forward leads Lawrence Academy in scoring. He’s a former first-round pick of the Victoriaville Tigres of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

“Owen is a tenacious player with an extremely high level of competitiveness. He has a proven track record of producing offence everywhere he’s been, and we think that will continue in Brooks,” said Bandits Head Coach and GM Ryan Papaioannou.

“His game has such versatility, and he will be able to impact our team in many ways. We look forward to working on the long-term development and college commitment with Owen.

The Bandits welcome Owen and the Leahy family to Brooks.

The Bandits homestand continues on Friday, February 23rd when they host the Blackfalds Bulldogs, followed by a home date with the Sherwood Park Crusaders on Saturday, Feb. 24.

Both games are at 7 p.m.
