"Improve and update the OHS Code"

Alberta Government launches workplace safety survey

Feb 20, 2024 | 12:40 PM

The provincial government is looking for public input through a new workplace safety survey.

The Alberta government is reviewing the Occupational Health and Safety Codes relating to:

  • Workplace violence and harassment
  • Explosives
  • Oil and gas wells

An online survey is now open until March 19, for Albertans to fill out, either entirely or just the parts that interest them.

The government will then use the findings from this survey to update OHS Codes with “new best practices, updated standards, technological advances, and streamline requirements to reduce unnecessary administrative burden.”

Minister of Economy Jobs and Trade, Matt Jones encourages “workers, employers, and health and safety professionals to provide their valuable input,” as “Alberta’s workplaces have gone through many changes during the past 15 years and Alberta’s government needs to make sure health and safety laws reflect modern workplaces.”
