Students at Parkside Jr. High School made cards for the Valentine’s for Veterans program and made sure to keep some locally this year.

Service officer and veteran Bill Fardy said it has had an impact on the members at the legion.

“Having something like this is a sign the public and school children were started as a good sign that we’re not forgotten, that’s what it’s about,” Fardy said.

“In November, the 11th our tribute is lest we forget, lest we forget, and people do most of those words. You figure well, that’s it for another year,” he added.

“But when this happens, it’s still there, still alive.”

Fardy retired from service in 1988, and also has a son who has completed 25 years of service.
