AMA reacts to Premier Smith’s transgender youth policy

The Alberta Medical Association’s section of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry has released a statement, following Premier Smith’s new transgender youth policy.

Since Premier Smith announced these new policies on Febraury 1, she has seen conflict from multiple groups, such as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Federal Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Official Languages Randy Boissanault, Jason Schilling with the Alberta Teacher’s Association, and Calgary Mayor Jody Gondek.

In Premier Smith’s announcement, she says her Conservative Party will bring this new policy to legislature in the Fall of 2024.
