Applications are now being taken for the Federated Co-operatives Limited Community Spaces program.

It’s the 10th year for the program, which supports capital projects across western Canada dedicated to recreation, environmental conservation and urban agriculture.

There’s $1 million available for this year’s program.

Since it was launched, it has provided $12.5 million to 175 projects across western Canada, including educational spaces, community gardens, recreational facilities and more.

The Foremost and District Agricultural Society benefited from a $77,000 grant from South Country Co-op as part of last years program.

The funding was designated for the year-round rodeo and equestrian event facility in Foremost.

“Marking our tenth year of the program is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate how Community Spaces helps us build sustainable communities together,” said Pam Skotnitsky, vice president of strategy at FCL.

“The 175 projects funded through the program thus far conserve nature, provide urban agriculture space and create places where we can come together to play and build relationships,” Skotnitsky said in a news release.

Applications from registered non-profit organizations, registered charities or community service co-operatives are now being taken online until March 1. Funding between $25,000 and $150,000 per project is available.
