‘A leader in efficiency and innovation’: Alberta achieves red tape reduction goal, government says
The Alberta government said Monday it has cut red tape by one-third, meeting the goal that it set for itself by the end of 2023.
Red tape is defined as “excessive bureaucracy or adherence to rules and formalities” in the Oxford dictionary, and it is something the province wants to reduce.
Premier and Brooks-Medicine Hat MLA Danielle Smith said doing so will help businesses to thrive.
“Unnecessary red tape often creeps up slowly, hampering ingenuity, efficiency and growth. It hurts our economy and it hurts Albertans,” Smith said.
