Alberta announces $42 million in CFEP grants

Jan 17, 2024 | 4:14 PM

The Alberta government announced this week more than 270 recipients of $42 million worth of Community Facility Enhancement Program grants.

CFEP dollars allow community groups to invest in facilities that support art, culture, heritage, sport and recreation.

“Investments in key spaces in our communities not only support new activities and programming but uplift residents and build stronger communities,” said Tanya Fir, minister of arts, culture and status of women.

“Our government’s investment recognizes the critical role we can play in enhancing local community spaces where many Albertans come together, from hockey rinks and playgrounds to libraries and museums,” Fir added.

Budget 2023 committed $50 million to CFEP, so the remaining $8 million will roll over into next year, a ministry spokesperson says.

Applications are now open for the CFEP large funding stream, the deadline being June 15.

CFEP small funding stream deadlines are Jan. 15, May 15 and Sept. 15.
