Mustard Seed to host Christmas dinner for those in need

Dec 21, 2023 | 3:28 PM

MEDICINE HAT — While it’s not as cold as previous winters may have been, Medicine Hat’s vulnerable population still needs support during the holidays.

The Medicine Hat Mustard Seed is hosting a Christmas feast tomorrow from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m and all of the community is welcome to join.

The Christmas Feast is only able to happen with generous donations from the public. However, the shelter is still in need of winter gear including jackets, mitts and hats.

Vladimir Duque, program and volunteer engagement coordinator with the Mustard Seed says all of these items help Medicine Hat’s vulnerable population weather the winter.

“We’re very blessed that we can serve them, and that’s something that we look forward to,” says Duque.

“Sometimes they don’t have Christmas, right? So here they can find a comfort, a friendship.”

During the holidays, The Mustard Seed shelter will stay open, offering refuge to those who need it.
