‘I’m just disappointed’: Upset Hatter has Christmas decorations stolen and vandalized

MEDICINE HAT — A Medicine Hat resident in Crescent Heights is disappointed after someone stole and vandalized her Christmas decorations.

According to Sheri-Lynne Wickenheiser, this happened Sunday evening, which was also the night of her birthday.

A red Christmas gnome, two reindeer and three stars, along with several extension cords, were taken from her home.

There were a number of little light up trees also trampled into the ground.

Wickenheiser said that it is disheartening that someone would do this.

“I’m just disappointed,” Wichenheiser said.

I took the time to do this on such a busy avenue. Just to make Medicine Hat look beautiful and all of my neighbours have done the exact same thing. We just want to make it look nice,” she added.

“I didn’t even get the chance to show my nieces the house lit up. I kept saying to them wait until Christmas, wait until Christmas. And then we finally got everything put together and now they don’t get to see it.”

Wickenheiser saw a social media post that mentioned what could be some, but not all of her decorations located in a nearby park.

She is going to look to see if they are, but isn’t hopeful that they will be in good condition.

A spokesperson for the Medicine Hat police said the service has not noticed a spike in theft or vandalism of Christmas decorations so far this season.
