MEDICINE HAT, AB – Hatters can now order on Uber Eats.

The food delivery service launched in Medicine Hat, Grande Prairie and Camrose as part of a continued westward expansion on Friday.

In Medicine Hat, Uber Eats joins competitors Doordash and SkipTheDishes.

Uber Eats is a new way for businesses to reach its customer base, spokesperson Keerthana Rang said.

“Cities and towns across the country right now are grappling with very challenging macroeconomic trends and what Uber Eats does is it offers local restaurants a new way to connect with customers,” Rang told CHAT News.

“Our expansion into new cities in Alberta means that we’re able to have local restaurants join and access new customers that they may not have had access to before.”

Uber’s arrival in Medicine Hat also brings opportunities for delivery drivers, Keerthana said.

Uber Eats is the largest food delivery platform in Canada.

Food can be ordered through the Uber Eats website or by its apps on the App Store and Google Play.

Chain restaurants such as Subway, Dairy Queen and McDonald’s were available on Uber Eats immediately.

There were a limited number of local establishments such as Namaste India Restaurant and Bar.
