CANMORE, AB – It was a 16 game win streak, until a Junior A team from the rocky mountains intervened.

The Brooks Bandits lost 4-1 against the Canmore Eagles Tuesday night in the Canmore Recreation Centre.

Eagles’ defenseman, Brody Tallman scored the games first goal during a powerplay at 1:28. Canmore extended their lead to 2-0 at 13:21 with a goal from the Eagles Tyler Loughman. Forward Owen Jones contributed to the Eagles’ lead by firing in a forehand shot at 14:17, making it 3-0.

Despite the Bandits’ offensive pressure and a 13-10 shot advantage, neither team managed to score in the second period.

In the third period, Brooks outshot Canmore threefold and finally broke through with Hooker’s goal at 18:18 after pulling the goalie for the extra attacker. Hooker scored on a forehand shot from the slot, with assists credited to Ewan McPherson (Edmonton, AB) and Mirko Buttazzoni (Langley, BC).

However, Canmore quickly responded at 19:14 when Nathan Macpherson-Ridgewell found the empty net. The third period also witnessed a total of 62 minutes in penalties handed out.

This loss was the Bandits first loss since Oct. 31. They still have not lost a game in their home walls of Centennial Arena. The Bandits next game is at home against the Camrose Kodiaks.
