Federal and provincial governments team to help Albertans find jobs
EDMONTON, AB – The governments of Canada and Alberta have announced additional funding to boost the labour market and help Albertans find jobs.
Federal Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Official Languages, Randy Boissonnault, along with Alberta’s Minister of Jobs, Economy and Trade, Matt Jones have announced an additional $72.9 million to Alberta for a total of $322 million in 2023–24 under the labour market agreements.
The funding aims to make sure Albertans can access the supports they need to fully take part in the labour market in different industries, such as agriculture, tourism and technology.
Building on existing measures, the investment will offer new training and career development opportunities for residents in Alberta. Officials said in 2021-22, more than 100,000 Albertans received training and employment supports through the labour market agreements.
