HotSpot parking service expanding in Medicine Hat

MEDICINE HAT — A program to help motorists pay for parking without having to carry a pocket full of coins is expanding to the Esplanade.

The HotSpot Parking service is a new payment method for the underground parkade at the Esplanade.

It’s in addition to the existing cash meter option, which is scheduled to be phased out after December 31 this year.

In a release, the city of Medicine Hat says HotSpot offers a user-friendly digital platform, accessible via a mobile app or directly through a mobile device’s camera with a QR code. The HotSpot website also provides desktop access for managing and paying for parking online.

Currently, HotSpot is facilitating parking services at Medicine Hat College and Towne Square, enhancing accessibility and flexibility for parking within the community.

“By going digital with HotSpot, our guests can enjoy their visit without worrying about parking meters or change,” says Trampas Brown, manager of guest experiences, City of Medicine Hat. “Guests can manage their parking time and payments directly from their mobile devices, which helps to avoid parking tickets and also allows for refunds on any unused parking time.”

The HotSpot Parking service will be operational 24/7, with payment required during events and times as indicated in the parkade. Parking rates will remain at $1 per hour, $5 per day or $770 per year. To assist our customers with the transition, Esplanade staff will be available by phone at (403) 502-8580 for questions or concerns.
