Mobile mammography trailer in Taber later this month

TABER, AB – A mobile mammography service from Alberta Health Services (AHS) is headed to Taber.

AHS said the Screen Test program will have the mobile mammography trailer stationed at the Heritage Inn Hotel & Conference Centre (4830 26 Ave.) on November 22-25, 27, 28, and 30, 2023.

Appointments are required and can be booked by calling 1-800-667-0604.

AHS said women ages 45 to 74 are most at-risk of developing breast cancer, and the Screen Test program is improving access to cancer screenings in communities where mammography is not readily available.

A mammogram is an x-ray of the breast. It has proven to be the most effective way to detect breast cancer, according to AHS. Officials said early detection allows for a greater number of treatment options and improves chances of survival.
