‘Help as many people as possible’: Vet clinic creates pet fund

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Cypress View Veterinary Clinic wants every pet that needs it to receive care.

After a summer of longer-than-normal wait times and with cost of living becoming more expensive, accessibility of care for some pet owners in Medicine Hat has become an issue, the clinic’s manager told CHAT News.

“Medicine Hat had gone through and is still going through a hard time with our inflation, our high utilities this summer, back to school [and] getting ready for Christmas, so there doesn’t seem to be a lot of disposable income right now within our community,” practice manager Marena Goehring said.

But that’s where the clinic’s Angel Care Fund comes in.

The care fund’s money comes from fundraisers and donations and is set aside for clients that need assistance with their vet bills.

While the fund has existed for a while, the clinic is hoping to get the fund out there more as one of the ways to grow pet care access in the city.

Those wishing to donate can do so by contacting Cypress View or by visiting the donation bin at the front desk.

The clinic also plans to hold community events in the near future.
