Medicine Hat man charged with sexual assault

Medicine Hat, AB – A 46-year-old Medicine Hat man has been charged with sexual assault and unlawful confinement following an incident Sunday evening.
Officers responded to a disturbance in the Walmart parking lot and found a woman in distress. A man was taken into custody.
An investigation by the MHPS Criminal Investigation Section led to charges against the man. The two were known to one another, and this is believed to be an isolated incident with no further risk to the community.
The man was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on December 4, 2023. The name of the accused is not being released to protect the identify of the victim.
