Our Town:Keeping the Peace

Medicine Hat, AB–Five years after the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway and the beginnings of a tent town at the place where the rails crossed the river, the town of Medicine Hat was incorporated.

One of the first acts for the new town council was the formation of a local police service, in 1899.

In this week’s episode of Our Town, Brian Konrad tells us how the service started with just one person but grew dramatically over the years.
