Update: Train derailment in Medicine Hat

Update 2: 3:30 p.m. Monday October 2

CP Rail says 10 cars were moving at slow speed in the Medicine Hat rail yard when they derailed Sunday evening. There no injuries or threat to the public. CP says all of the rail cars were rerailed earlier in the day.

Update: 9:00 a.m. Monday October 2

About 10 cars derailed last night at the 900 Block of South Railway Street SE.

Reports from the scene indicate nothing was leaking and there were no injuries. Medicine Hat Fire crews remained on scene last night to monitor the situation.

Medicine Hat, AB–Medicine Hat Police say emergency crews are on the scene at the 900 Block of Railway Street SE where a train has derailed.

No injuries hve been reported at this time but police are requesting members of the public to stay away from the area.
