Medicine Hat Catholic board to build one new school, close three

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education is moving ahead with plans for a new school.

A letter was sent to parents Monday indicating the board of trustees will formally approve construction at its next meeting on Oct. 10.

The new school will be built behind St. Francis Xavier School adjacent to Monsignor McCoy High School on Eighth Street NE.

The new school will be for students in Early Learning Programs to Grade 9 and include a theatre and physical literacy space.

It is slated to be completed in the fall of 2026.
