Investigation underway into small aircraft crash near Claresholm that killed single occupant

UPDATE – August 29, 2023 at 11:56 a.m.

CLARESHOLM, AB – The Claresholm RCMP has provided an update on a plane crash in southern Alberta.

On Aug. 28 at around 7:30 p.m., the RCMP received a 911 call about a small aircraft crashing in a field northeast of Claresholm. The RCMP, EMS and Fire attended and found the plane.

The RCMP has confirmed that a single occupant in the plane, a 24-year-old woman from London, Ont. as declared deceased at the scene.

The RCMP has issued its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

CLARESHOLM, AB – The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) said it is investigating a plane crash in southern Alberta.

The TSB reports that a small Cessna 152 aircraft was involved in an accident near Claresholm on Monday, August 28, 2023.

The plane is privately registered.

There is no word on any potential injuries at the time of this publication.

Officials with the TSB say their investigation is ongoing and no further details are available at this time.
