Lethbridge police confirm substance shaped like candy bear was made from fentanyl

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has confirmed a substance found in Galt Gardens earlier in the summer is fentanyl.

On June 20, 2023 a member of the Downtown Policing Unit located a bag in the park containing an item resembling a candy bear.

The substance was sent to the RCMP lab for further analysis, which confirmed the bear contained fentanyl, bromazolen and caffeine.

No other similar bears have been found by LPS in the park, but they are still urging caution from the public.

Anyone who finds a suspicious substance is advised not to touch it and immediately call police.
