ASIRT investigating death following interaction with Medicine Hat police

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) says it has been directed to investigate a death in Medicine Hat over the August long weekend.

Medicine Hat police are unable to provide any details or comment since the matter is under investigation by ASIRT. CHAT News has reached out to ASIRT but has not heard back.

ASIRT is an independent agency comprised of former and current law enforcement officers. It investigates incidents in which Alberta police officers have killed or injured someone.

Its investigators are also called in to probe serious or sensitive allegations of police misconduct like obstruction of justice, sexual assault and fraud.
