City of Medicine Hat announces new economic development director
MEDICINE HAT, AB – As of July 3, the City of Medicine Hat will have a new economic development director. The city announced the appointment of Selena McLean-Moore as the new director on Thursday.
McLean-Moore has worked in various economic development roles for nearly two decades. She most recently served as the southern Alberta economic development specialist for the Government of Alberta. Her role had her working with the Ministry of Jobs, Economy, and Trade to identify opportunities, attract investments and implement strategies to stimulate economic activity.
“I am thrilled to welcome Selena to the role of economic development director. The hiring of this position marks a significant milestone in the formulation of our city’s new economic development strategy. By filling this crucial role, we are now in a position to build a strong economic development department that will facilitate collaboration with regional partners and harness opportunities for the advancement of our industries and community,” City Manager Ann Mitchell said in a statement on Thursday.
McLean-Moore will be tasked with building a team to reengage the community in three areas: workforce development, business retention and expansion, and investment attraction.
