MEDICINE HAT, AB – Twelve charities in southeastern Alberta are receiving grants this year courtesy of the Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta’s Youth in Philanthropy program.

In total, more than $10,000 is being distributed to the charities. The breakdown of grants can be found at the bottom of this story.

The program introduces young people in the region to philanthropy and community development, giving them experience working as a team and helping the community thrive.

“Participating in the Y.I.P. program was such a rewarding and positive experience for our student leadership group. Our students learned the power of giving back to the community,” says Kristen Bowal, a teacher at River Heights Elementary School, adding the students were invested and learned many valuable skills in the process.
