Women’s hockey signings begin for upcoming Rattlers season

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Rattlers women’s hockey was officially added to the ACAC league for the upcoming season.

This is the first time Medicine Hat college has ever offered a women’s hockey program. The very first signing was 19-year-old Kinlee Fahselt.

Fahselt is a Medicine Hat local who began playing hockey when she was five. She played on the Rattlers exhibition team last season as a goalie. Fahselt had planned to go to the University of Calgary for the upcoming school year.

The goalie says she has always dreamed of playing hockey for her hometown, and will be staying in Medicine Hat to accomplish that dream.

“Honestly it felt amazing. I lost out on my chance to play post-secondary hockey because of COVID actually, so I didn’t think I was going to have an opportunity to play again. And then to have the chance to be, I guess a pioneer for a women’s hockey team in Medicine Hat when there wasn’t one growing up has been a super cool feeling,” Fahselt explains.

Fahselt will be part of a Psychology transfer program starting next fall.
