Over 160,000 Albertans cast ballots on first day of advance polls

Albertans came out to polling places in droves at their first opportunity to vote.

Elections Alberta reports that, as of the end of the first day of advance voting in the Alberta provincial election on Tuesday, an estimated 161,830 people cast their ballots.

The agency said this marks an increase of 16 per cent from the opening-day number in the 2019 election.

As of 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Elections Alberta estimated that a total of 173,640 people had utilized advance voting.

Advance voting stations are open each day until Saturday, May 27. Find full voting location details on the Elections Alberta website.

The general election day is Monday, May 29.
