MEDICINE HAT, AB – The farming season is in full swing, and once again, the farmers’ market is back to bring locally produced goods to Medicine Hat.

The return of the farmers’ market at the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede Fieldhouse happens Saturday, May 20. The market’s annual return enables residents to support farmers and local businesses located in the area.

Doreen Gunderson is the farmers’ market coordinator and says that the farmers’ market will run every Saturday until Oct. 7. She’s been involved with the farmers’ market for the past 17 years. The farmers’ market is entering its 26th year of operations.

Gunderson says that the farmers’ market gives a chance for people to approach the person who created or grew their product and support small businesses. Some products that people can look forward to seeing are fresh produce, home-baked goods, fruits, meats, jewelry and even wine.

“When you come to the farmers’ market, everything is home-made, home-baked, home-grown. When you approach a vendor, that person behind that table has actually made that product or grown that product or hand-created that product,” Gunderson said Thursday.

More information on the farmers’ market can be found on the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede website.
