Air quality statement ended for Medicine Hat

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Special air quality statements are no longer in effect for southeastern Alberta.
As of 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Environment Canada has ended the statements for an area stretching from Lethbridge to the Saskatchewan boundary and Brooks to the U.S. border. Air quality statements are still in effect for the rest of Alberta, western Saskatchewan and much of B.C.
Earlier this week wind blew smoke from wildfires in central and northern Alberta down to Medicine Hat. At one point on Wednesday the Air Quality Health Index for the area was rated “high risk” at seven out of 10.
On Thursday afternoon the Alberta Wildfire Status Dashboard reports 92 wildfires in the province, 26 of which are out of control.
