Resident engagement begins for city’s Environmental Framework
MEDICINE HAT – Residents are invited to learn about a program that aims to promote environmental considerations in the city’s decision-making.
“We’re living in a changing world and environment is very much a focus. We’ve always considered the environment in city initiatives, but this guiding document sets the broad strategy under which each city department must operate with respect to the environment,” Kevin Redden with the city said in a statement Tuesday.
The plan will be layered with the strategic priorities of city council and the Municipal Development Plan to set targets that the city can control. The framework is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
Residents are encouraged to submit questions online at shapeyourcity.medicinehat.ca, or attend the in-person community engagement session scheduled for Tuesday, May 30, at the Kin Social Room, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
