New head coach announced for Rattlers men’s volleyball

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat College Rattlers made a coaching announcement on Tuesday.

Rattlers Alumni Trever Turner is the new head coach of the Men’s Volleyball team for the upcoming season, in place of previous coach Tyler Olson.

He brings plenty of experience, having coached in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference for over 30 years.

Being assistant coach for the Rattlers the past two years has helped Turner create a plan for this team.

He says his long term goals focus on skill development and work ethic.

He hopes this mindset could help the team make playoffs, and potentially nationals.

“We’ve got eight guys returning, eight to ten. So they know what my expectations are. I’ve run a few practices this year and they know what the expectations are so hopefully they’ll come in wanting to win, that’s the key,” coach Turner stated.

To be successful, he says the returning athletes need to take leadership over the new ones.

Despite being months away, Turner is already busy with off-season planning, and he expects the same from his players.

The Rattlers Volleyball season will begin this October.
