New modifications on motocross track

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Motocross course has opened its gates again for summer.

Located just outside of Medicine Hat, this specific course has been in operation since 2007.

In March, the Medicine Hat Motocross Society began making some adjustments to the layout of the track. Construction finished early April.

Board member of the Medicine Hat Motocross Society, Cole Vanrentergem and President Jared Stock say that they want to keep the course interesting for riders.

“So before the track actually went the total opposite direction, so basically we dug the infield of the track down to get a little bit more dirt, flipped it all around so that it’s kind of predominantly left hand turns, which is better, and works better for the sun in the evenings,” said Vanrentergem.

Stock says, “There’s a lot of new members and a lot of old members. So it’s great to have something new for everybody to ride on and practice.”

Vanrentergem says the modifications took about 300 man hours, help from the board and equipment donations from local companies.

They hope that these changes will encourage more riders and spectators to enjoy the track during the summer months.
