REDCLIFF, AB – A major change in management is coming for the Town of Redcliff

According to the minutes from a special town council meeting held on April 4 the town’s chief administrative officer will be dismissed.

A motion was moved and resolved by Coun. Chris Czember that “Notice in writing in the form attached be given immediately to the Chief Administrative Officer, Phyllis Forsyth, of Council’s intention to terminate her appointment and employment with the Town of Redcliff, without cause, due to a change in leadership being required.”

The motion was carried. It goes on to further state that Forsyth remain on a leave of absence with pay, that Mayor Dwight Kilpatrick sign the notice and it be delivered to Forsyth and that legal services be engaged to assist in matters related to Forsyth’s employment.

The minutes are included in the agenda for the regular town council meeting that took place on April 10.

A reading of council documents online shows references to personnel, local public body confidences and intergovernmental relations in closed sessions appearing in the minutes of the March 13 meeting. In the same minutes, council voted to engage Veritas Human Resource Risk Management and Balanced and Restorative HR regarding a personnel matter.

A motion to place the chief administrative officer on leave until a report from Veritas was received was carried at a special town council meeting on March 21, according to the minutes.

That motion also appointed the legislation and development director as acting municipal manager.
