RCMP say Edmonton-area officer dies from injuries following crash

Apr 10, 2023 | 10:39 AM

SHERWOOD PARK, Alta. — Alberta RCMP say an officer has died after being injured in a crash.

Mounties say Const. Harvinder Dahmi, who was 32, died after his vehicle collided with a large concrete barrier when he was driving to help other officers with a noise complaint.

No further details about the crash have been provided.

Deputy Commissioner Curtis Zablocki says Dahmi was posted to the Strathcona County detachment east of Edmonton after he graduated from the police training academy in 2019.

Everyone called him Harvey.

Supt. Dale Kendall says Dahmi never shied away from taking calls and always wanted to learn on the job, no matter the task or the possible risk.

Last month, two Edmonton police officers were shot and killed while responding to a family dispute.
