Edmonton police say more interest in joining service since deaths of officers
EDMONTON – A senior officer says more people are interested in joining the Edmonton Police Service after two officers were killed in the line of duty on March 16.
Acting Deputy Chief Kellie Morgan said at news conference this week that police agencies across the country have been experiencing recruitment issues over the last few years.
Edmonton police media adviser Cheryl Voordenhout says that they have noticed a small rise in interest from people about joining, but that it’s impossible to pinpoint the cause.
Constables Brett Ryan and Travis Jordan were killed by a 16-year-old boy after responding to a family dispute in in the city.
