Police commission looking at reducing photo radar
MEDICINE HAT, AB – The use of photo radar locations in Medicine Hat has created friction between motorists and police.
In city council chambers tonight the police commission is expected to look at reducing the existing number of photo radar sites in city limits by 12 per cent.
According to an audit conducted by the Medicine Hat Police Service last year, a small number of photo radar sites don’t have enough vehicle traffic or pose enough of a public safety concern to keep in operation.
Currently the police service’s signage on traffic patrol vehicles conducting photo radar do not meet the new Traffic Enforcement Guidelines.
