City preaches caution for drivers, pedestrians as winter weather hits again

Mar 11, 2023 | 8:50 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – With temperatures fluctuating above and below freezing and more winter weather on the way, the city is reminded people to be careful on roads, trails, sidewalks and in parking lots.

Hazardous conditions can result from snow falling, piling up and then melting.

Melting snow can create puddles and slippery surfaces, which can be dangerous for those on foot,” reads a City of Medicine Hat news release. “In addition, melting snow can obscure potholes and other hazards on roadways, making it important for drivers to slow down and stay alert.”

The city says crews will be sanding and/or removing icy sections to the best of their ability during this time and appreciates residents’ patience and understanding.
