Rebels top Tigers in overtime
MEDICINE HAT, AB – Kai Uchacz led the Red Deer Rebels to a 5-4 overtime victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday night.
Uchacz potted the game-winner in overtime, also scoring a power play goal late in the second frame. The 19-year old centre is second in the Western Hockey League in goals this season with 43.
With the victory, Red Deer improves to 37-13-1-3, Medicine Hat falls to 22-22-8-1. The Rebels are tied with the Saskatoon Blades for second place in the Eastern Conference, the Tigers are in ninth, one spot out of a playoff spot.
Shane Smith scored a pair of goals, including a power play marker early in the third period that would send the game to overtime. With 18 goals this season, Smith is tied with Brayden Boehm for third on the Tigers in goals.
