Pregame: Tigers set for home-and-home against Rebels

Feb 18, 2023 | 1:05 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Winners of three of their last four, the Medicine Hat Tigers will look to continue their hot play this weekend in a two-game set with the Red Deer Rebels.

The Tigers host the Rebels on Saturday at Co-op Place and head north to Red Deer for a Monday matinee.

The Rebels (36-13-1-3) have won three of the four previous meetings this season. The lone win for the Tigers (22-22-7-1) was a 3-2 shootout victory on Nov. 25 in Red Deer.

Oasiz Weisblatt and Andrew Basha lead the Tigers with 44 and 43 points, followed closely Brendan Lee’s 39 points and team-leading 21 goals.

Kai Uchacz leads the Rebels with 40 goals, good for second in the league, and 68 points. Christoffer Sedoff has been a producer from the back-end, putting up 44 points this season.

The Tigers are in fifth place in the East Division and currently outside the playoff picture in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, but are just one point behind the sixth-place Regina Pats. The East Division-leading Rebels are second in the conference and potentially days away from clinching a postseason berth.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m. both nights and if you can’t make it to the games you can hear all the action live on Wild 94.5 with voice of the Tigers Gino De Paoli.
