Medicine Hat and Lethbridge competing in Bowl for Kids Sake event

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Big Brothers Big Sisters’s nation-wide event, called Bowl for Kids Sake, is back.

This year Medicine Hat and Lethbridge are competing to see who can fundraise the most.

In order to participate, teams must register on the Big Brothers Big Sister’s website, and fundraise up to five-hundred dollars or more, in pledges, with the help of family, friends or colleagues.

Teams then attend the bowling event, which has a Saint Patrick’s Day twist, for the evening of March 17 at Panorama Lanes.

Fundraisers can include anything from sporting tournaments, bake sales, garage sales or service auctions. Teams, which can have as many as six people, decide how they wish to fundraise. Everyone in the community is welcome to register.

“We’re encouraging the whole community of Medicine Hat to get involved, Brooks, surrounding area – anybody who wants to register. It’s really easy,” said Holly Stadnicki, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Medicine Hat.

On top of prizes for the best dressed bowling team, Saint Patrick’s style, Stadnicki says the top individual fundraiser will win a trip.

“We are giving away a trip to Ireland for the top individual fundraiser this year. Again, with the Saint Patrick’s theme, we thought it would be fun,” said Stadnicki. The winner also receives spending money and some cash for the hotel.

In the end, she anticipates Medicine Hat will fundraise more than Lethbridge.

“When we beat Lethbridge, all of the staff will come down here and take all of our staff out for a nice, friendly lunch,” she adds.
