Milk River Health Centre emergency department to temporarily close

Feb 3, 2023 | 1:19 PM

MILK RIVER, AB – Residents of Milk River will have to travel out of town for emergency healthcare on a temporary basis.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) says the emergency department at the Milk River Health Centre will be closed from 5 p.m. today, Feb. 3, to 8 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 6.

The closure, according to AHS, is due to a lack of physician coverage.

During the closure, 911 calls in the community will be rerouted to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, which is 87 kilometres away, or the Raymond Health Centre, which is 60 kilometres away.

Nursing staff will remain on-site at the Milk River Health Centre to provide care for long-term care residents.

Anyone who has non-emergency health-related questions can phone Health Link at 811 at any time or reach out to their family physician.
