Dec 27, 2022 | 8:51 AM

Updated 5:00 p.m.

The City of Medicine Hat says of 3:20 all routes except 20 and 21 were running.

Updated 2:00 p.m.

Brooks RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle collision involving power lines on Highway 1 near Highway 550 earlier today. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The accident did result in the westbound lanes of Highway 1 being fully blocked. The eastbound was open but was moving very slowly.

The westbound lanes on Highway 1 near Highway 550 are now open, however police are still recommending that drivers find alternate routes, as rain is causing additional traffic delays and hazards.

RCMP is warning the public of poor road conditions along Highway 2 between Red Deer and Airdrie. Black ice, freezing rain and changing conditions are affecting visibility and surface traction on the road. Additional reports of poor road conditions are identified in the detachment areas of Redcliff and Strathmore.

RCMP around central and southern Alberta are responding to various motor vehicle collisions on Highway 1 east of Strathmore. RCMP advise that road conditions may deteriorate with the change in weather patterns.

Please be cautious if you are travelling in the area.
