Tow trucks in short supply as icy cold continues

CYPRESS COUNTY, AB — A section of South Boundary Road was blocked by a semi trailer unit late Tuesday night.

The unit was stuck on some ice, and the lack of an available tow truck meant it had to stay where it was until it could be moved.

That wasn’t expected to happen until sometime this morning.

In the meantime, people living in Cactus Coulee, Canyon Creek and Desert Blume were having to detour the site to access their communities.

City police also had to deal with a crash on the Trans-Canada Highway in the Kin Coulee dip, but no injuries were reported.
