Hidden Valley opening next week

ELKWATER, AB – If hitting the slopes is a favourite winter pastime of yours, Hidden Valley Ski Resort has an early Christmas present for you.

Southeastern Alberta’s only ski hill is scheduled to open on Dec. 21. Last year the hill wasn’t able to open until January.

“The weather has been cooperating this year and we are looking forward to welcoming visitors back to the slopes in time for the holidays,” says a spokesperson from Alberta Forestry, Parks and Tourism which oversees operations of the resort, in a statement. “We have about 95 per cent snow coverage, which should lead to great conditions for opening day. We’ve had significant natural snowfall in addition to great conditions for snowmaking.”

Memberships and day passes, which can be purchased up to two weeks in advance, are on sale now at shop.albertaparks.ca. Members can buy discounted day passes.

Once again this season the hill is accepting school and group bookings after being able to find enough instructors. Bookings can be made directly with the ticket office. There is a 50 per cent discount for schools (lesson, lift ticket and rentals) and groups (lift ticket and rentals). Private lessons for up to three participants are also available.
