TORONTO – Drivers hoping for cheaper gas can fill up after the price at the pump across Canada dropped today to $1.43 per litre.

It’s even lower in Medicine Hat and Alberta.

A senior director of public affairs at CAA National says the national gas price average has dropped by about 30 cents since last month but the price has not fallen as low as the $1.36.5 average that was recorded on Dec. 9, 2021.

Kristine D’Arbelles says gas prices are expected to remain relatively low in the next couple weeks before they might go up again due to higher demand during the holidays.

According to the CAA’s gas price tracker, prices across Alberta are averaging $1.33. The average price in Medicine Hat is $1.35, down from last month’s average of $1.54.

In Ontario the average price is around $1.40 down from $1.42 on Wednesday and $1.73 a month ago.

In Quebec, prices are down to $1.51 from about $1.54 a day before and $1.83 a month ago.

In Saskatchewan, prices are down slightly to $1.46, while Manitoba’s prices saw just less than a one-cent drop to $1.52.
